Best bang for the buck
With the newer and faster Hd4890s replacing the now mid-priced HD4870s as the mainstay of the sub $200 graphics card market (the largest and most profitable by far) ATI is showing a serious commitment to keeping even moderate budget gamers equipped with great hardware. I’ve been a convert to ATI hardware since the release of the 4XXX series cards, and aside from spending quite a bit more on the 295GTX, they still represent the top of the playing field in speed and quality.
For a single GPU solution, this is the card to get. Fantastic frames with virtually all games, and unless you’re running a resolution greater than 1920×1080, you don’t need dual GPUs like the 4890×2 or 295GTX for 95% of the games on the market.
These cards have been dropping in price, and there’s never been a better time to get one. Anything south of two hundred is a steal. XFX cards come with the added bonus of having a fantastic warranty, so yet another reason to get this card.
Fantastic card. Well worth the price.

Well worth the 2nd mortgage!
At first I was a little hesitant to make the commitment to the XFX HD489AZDFC Radeon HD 4890. I mean, as I write this, ATI has released their 5000 series cards, all under [...], and all purportedly an order of magnitude than the 4000 series cards.
I was all set to go with their HD 5850, when the siren song of this card pulled me in to her dangerous shores. [...] is a lot of money. I have two kids, my wife doesn’t work, and we live paycheck to paycheck. But we all know, you get what you pay for. Gaming is one of the few luxuries I have to take a break from all the hectic demands I struggle with day to day. Is the 4890 worth the extra [...] dollars? The smile on the lips of my 3 year old, when I come home from my 4th job, and give him a quick pat on the head before firing up the 4890 to shoot a few hundred zombies, says yes!

Works like a charm
This card rocks! It overclocks super easily with stock cooling. ATI did a great job with the 4890. I don’t recommend spending the extra $20 to get a slightly overclocked card.
The other reason for going with this card is because XFX has the BEST warranty! The warranty is even transferrable if you decide to sell it to upgrade to the next latest and greatest. Their warranty also covers you if you get to ambitious with overclocking…
