RotoZip RZ2000-50, 3 Jaw Chuck

3 Jaw Chuck

1st of all, this tool is a great piece of machinery in terms of performance, aesthetics, etc…While its not designed to accept the previous attachments,it does accept the 3jaw Keyless Chuck,Mod SFE5-RKC,in place of the Collet system..I was used to utilizing the 3Jaw chuck which came with my RZ10..So for the other satisfied users of the RZ2000,you do have a choice of either the collet system or the 3Jaw Chuck……

Don’t know what I would have done without it.
Just like the title says. I recently completed a bathroom remodel. My wife and I did 100% of the work ourselves. This included tiling a floor and shower, replacing all drywall and numerous other tasks. The Rotozip was bought specifically for the project. It was an invaluable tool. With the right bits, I was able to cut holes in our porcelain tile for the shower fittings, something I would never have been able to do with a wetsaw. It also gave me the ability to cut perfect holes for can lights in the ceiling. The trimsaw accessory was also used when I needed to cut out the back of the new cabinets for plumbing. This is a great tool, very versatile with the bits/accessories that are available. It is well made, as well. You can tell it just “feels” well constructed the minute you pick it up. I’ve found myself looking for projects/tasks that I can have an excuse for using it now.

Why didn’t I buy this years ago?
I feel like such a doof. I do house rehabs and new construction. Why didn’t I buy this unit years ago? It would have made my life a LOT easier. As soon as I got it, I started thinking about all the projects I’ve done that this tool would have made better.
I used to make special cutouts in 2×4s with a table saw. Clearly the rotozip is a lot easier. Cutting shapes in drywall… Cutting tile ….
I’ll never go back to the old way of cutting tile.
You can get the vac hose attachment for this and hook it up to your shop vac.
This model has a light on it that illuminates what you are cutting. And yes it works. I have found the variable speed motor to be very useful as well. Sometimes 30k RPM is just too much. You want to tone it down for better control.
I really like the design of this unit compared with other RZs. This one also has the handy attachment for use with cutting discs. This is great for tile or frankly anything else you want to cut. After buying this, there’s only a few things I will use a sawzall for, and they all involve demolition.

Here’s the best one. I do construction on metal buildings. Anything from 4800sq ft buildings to small garages. Have you ever tried cutting ribbed, steel paneling? It’s not fun. One method is to take an old circular saw blade, put it in the saw backwards and then use that to cut the paneling. It works, but the edges are not clean or straight. And it will make you deaf. This is one of the jobs where the RZ just shines. No more going deaf. You can get straight, clean lines in steel paneling. I’ll never go back to using the circular saw on that one!
