Best Impact driver on the market, by far!

I am a licensed, professional home repair contractor and tools are something I make a living with. Buying tools that break down and do not do the job I need them for end up costing me time as well as money. The Panasonic 14.4-Volt Impact Driver is superior to any other impact/driver I have ever used. I own a Hitachi as well as a Makita and they cannot perform even half as well as this Panasonic. I’ve done my research and every consumer product rating agency out there has rated these Panasonic drill drivers superior to their competitors and now I know why. Their speed is adjustable, with or without a light illuminating the business end of the tool as well as consistent power to to the job when you need it. Plus it also has a dial telling you how much power you have left on a charge. Which means you don’t have to get to the top of an extension ladder or inside of a crawl-space to learn your battery charge has expired. Take it from this professional, you won’t be sorry with this tool. As a bonus in this kit (ECY142B) you also get a drill driver and a flashlight and if you order before October 15, 2008 you can also send for a free third battery.

Superior
This Panasonic kit is superior to all other tool manufacturers Li-ion kits in my opinion. They have been working superbly for me. The design and features of these tools have been very well thought out, with excellent fit and finish. Im a carpenter, so I use others, but these rank highest in quality and performance to me.

The impact driver feels great in my hands, and does everything i ask it to. The drill doesnt get as much use because of that. I use it mainly for smaller tasks like pre-drilling and such. Makes a great companion tool for the driver if you dont want to constantly swap bits. The flashlight works like any old flashlight. Charge time is slow (50 min. dead to full) but battery run time is super long. The case is beefy and well made, but does not fit both drills, but my kit also inluded (not sure if they all do) a bag witch appears to made by CLC. Its high quality and fits both drills, batteries, charger, and has multiple pockets for bits, cases or whatever.

All in all, great set-up and I am happy I spent the extra money for this kit. Very satisfied with these products.

Nice features but over-rated
I just purchased the combo cordless impact driver, drill and flashlight. First impressions:

Pros: The set came with a very nice heavy duty tool pouch that was not advertised on the Amazon website.
The driver and drill are very light weight but have plenty of power.
The belt hook on the driver and drill have been redesigned from what’s shown on the website and is more functional.
The impact driver can be set for three different levels of torque, which is very handy for removing fragile, rusted deck screws without breaking them.
The drill has a 1/2 inch (13mm) chuck.
The drill keyless chuck is a one piece unit and can be tightened with one hand, not two as on many other drills by other manufacturers.

Cons: The set comes with a plastic fitted carrying case but there is only room for the impact driver, flashlight, charger and spare battery. it won’t accommodate the drill.
The flashlight is totally cheesy and not that bright. they should have used an LED bulb and redesigned the reflector to make it smaller.
Although the impact driver is quiet and smooth as silk, the drill has an annoying high-pitched whine when the trigger is first pulled. the sound lessens as RPMs increase but the squeal of this drill is really obnoxious. i have never heard anything like this from all of the other cordless drills i have owned.
Very high price but i don’t see any additional features that could warrant this price except perhaps for the variable torque adjustment on the impact driver.
