Hazards of Halogen Light
Light output excellent. But what happens if the motion-detector timer fails to shut off and the high-heat producing halogen bulb stays on?
In my case, it caused the outer plastic housing to melt down and possibly to have caught fire, just two weeks after installed. Fortunately, it was self-limiting, but the heat blistered the paint on the wood siding on which the light was mounted. The siding could have, but did not, catch fire, or else the house could have burned down. The manufacturer said it shouldn’t happen. But it did. And if it happened once, it can happen again.

Custom Motion Light
I bought the Heath Zenith SL-5525 250 Watt Motion Sensing Light, a user in motion to create light for our garage. My wife at certain times of the year, leaves and comes home when it is dark. We would want a light that shine actually the door leading from the house into the garage, and the same, when in the side door of the garage to the house. The little battery operated motion lights were too much like a night light, not bright enough. I bought a round electrical box to put this (in white) and an extension cable (also white). I cut the intake end of the cord and wired the motion light on it. Then mounted the light to the round of electric field and finally the setup mounted on the inside garage wall. When plugged into an outlet, I have a 250 watt light motion detecting function is turned on automatically when movement and when it dark enough. Great solution for what I wanted. I know this is usually an external light, but also works indoors. I probably would not recommend this work inside the house, but in a garage area, perfect. I would recommend this light Who a nice bright light, which cover a certain area, detecting movement.

“Heath Zenith 250 Watt Quartz Light - A Bright Idea”
This is a well made compact unit and is bright enough to make anyone stepping into it’s nighttime path think they are on the tracks with a diesel locomotive bearing down. Fully adjustable time-on and sensitivity work as advertised and a photocell keeps the light off during daylight hours. A good looking addition to your home security system.
