You really can’t beat it for the price.

My best friend has a dedicated edger. It’s large, expensive, takes up space and can’t edge any better than this TrimmerPlus accessory.I’ve used mine nearly every week of the lawn mowing seasons for the past two years. My edges look great!I finally replaced the original blade (well worn after 2 years worth of use). The new models (or replacement blades for your old model) now have a large v-shaped notch (scallop) at the edge of the blade. It makes cutting more efficient than the orignal rectangular blade. After a few months worth of use I finally did discover (as did several others who’ve reviewed this item) that it really does work best to walk backward. I find that with this technique I can edge my sidewalks, drive, and curbs in one pass.If you’ve not edged before and have overgrown edges (I moved into a new home where the edges hadn’t been maintained) it will take longer the first time and requires a slower technique. Move the unit back and forth (like a vacuum cleaner) to nibble & carve away the soil & grass to create a new clean edge. After the initial cut to regain control of my edges, it’s a snap to run the edger through once weekly or bi-weekly.

Update (2/7/2012): I also found some auctions for this item here.

A Great Add-on
I just purchased one of these Add-on Lawn Edgers to be used on my 4 cycle 775R and I am very pleased with it! There’s lots of edging power, although my first time using it was somewhat time-consuming as I had to dig out the trenches next to the sidewalk. I would think that this should get easier with each use. You get a nice clean cut and don’t use up your string, which always seemed to go quickly when hitting the concrete. One note: this edger works better by moving it back and forth rather than a continuous push.

I’ve used for 1 year and love the convenience!
The simple sharing tools on my 725 is great! I have edger, cultivator, lawn trimmers and sawzall / Pruner. The edger works better backwards, as another reviewer commented. But it works well to the front if you to little steps (I like a DEEP & sharp edge, which does make it). I do not agree with another reviewer indicates, it has too little power. It would certainly be turned down when she fell in a deep overgrown curb, but so would one of the four wheel units. I have never seen a tree or timber by plunging the saw or chain saw in the object! Do you?? This unit, as everyone would like, requires a little technique on thick fabric. It has never stalled on me though. And it is much faster than with the large grinding machines. I can edge, mow, cut and blow my lawn much faster than all my neighbors with four separate units. Although not recommended for ameteur still in the instructions, I have been taking my guide wheel, so I make an even deeper cut may faster!
